paddle for a purpose

Outside Perspectives’ first-ever fundraising expedition provides a chance for our community to experience an OP-style expedition. It raises awareness and critical funding for our mission. Our paddlers will embark on this adventure of a lifetime. They will spend 5 days paddling the wooded banks of the Raquette River between Long Lake and Tupper Lake. They will also spend 4 nights camping under the stars in the Northeast’s last great wilderness. Our paddlers are raising funds. Their goal is to support OP in getting hundreds of CT youth outside and unplugged. These young people will become connected and empowered this year.

Learn the Details!

WHEN: October 9 – October 13, 2025
WHAT: A 5-day, 4-night expedition leaving Thursday morning and returning Monday night. You will canoe from Long Lake onto Raquette River to Tupper Lake.
AGE: 21+
SKILL-LEVEL REQUIRED: NONE. This trip is for ALL skill levels! Before getting on the water, you will be instructed on paddling techniques and safety.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Plan to be on the water for up to 8 hours a day (some of this paddling, other times floating, eating, and hanging out!). Be prepared to portage your boat and gear up to 4 miles on mild terrain. (We will have Kevlar boats, so they’re super light!) This is a doable challenge for most healthy adults, even without physical training.
REGISTRATION & COST: A $500 non-refundable registration fee is required to hold your space. This $500 counts toward your fundraising goal of $3,000. The registration fee of $500, signed “Participant Agreement,” and Outside Perspectives “Participant Waiver” are due at the time of registration for this fundraising expedition.
